My goal is to keep records and information current so transactions can be completed accurately and tax revenue is distributed to the appropriate jurisdictions.

I will focus on making sure residents have accurate information about the documents, steps, taxes, and fees involved in their transactions. I also want employees to have current information so they can answer questions accurately, including questions about transactions they may not handle every day.

In my current position, I have corrected more than 2,500 motor-vehicle tax-district records. Some involved vehicles within Lincoln city limits that had been assigned to the wrong district. Others involved vehicles that had been treated incorrectly as inside or outside the city limits.

These differences can affect wheel tax and where motor-vehicle tax revenue is distributed. Depending on where a vehicle is located, revenue may be distributed among the city, county, school district, fire district, community college, natural resources district, and other local taxing entities.
